My Soundtrack

Isn’t it amazing how a song can instantly transport you back to the time and place in your life when you first heard it? I can recall who I was with, what I was doing, and amazingly, often remember all (or most) of the words – even songs from 20 years ago. It makes me think seriously about the songs I’m listening to right now, as one day they will be the soundtrack from this period of my life.

When I’m writing, which I’ve been doing a lot of lately, I listen to Kenny G. There’s something about the smooth sound of the saxophone that soothes me and takes me to a place where nothing else exists – just the sax and the effortless flow of my fingers across the keyboard. My writing playlist tells me that I’ve listened to the Ultimate Kenny G album more than 160 times! It’s to the point that if/when I hear Kenny G away from my computer, my fingers tingle and my mind immediately switches to creative work mode. Although this is a good thing, it’s time for a change. So in the spirit of sharing, I’m looking for some suggestions.

What do you listen to when you want to be inspired? When you need music, but don’t want to be distracted?
